31 december 2015 - Prasat Bakong, Cambodja

Hi!
Monday the 28th of December I arrived in Siem Reap Cambodia. After another week on Koh Tao and two days in Bangkok I was totally ready to go. Bangkok was still very crowded, but I had a lot of fun with new people we met. I bought more clothes because I couldn't stop myself (of course) and I went to the airport. I had to arrive early because there was something wrong with my tickets, but I ended up in the airplane. I tried a hamburger from some kind of supermarket and it tasted just terrible. I threw it away and I went back for some kitkats haha.

When I arrived in Siem Reap there was someone waiting for me, and so happy to see me because I was like one hour too late (damn visa). Apparently he is our driver every day who drives us to the school. I loved driving to the little village, Cambodia is so different from Thailand! First of all the drive on the right side of the road, I didn't know that so I was a little confused at first. And it's less crowded :D There was and is only one other volunteer right now, a Frenchman who's 70 years old. It's very nice because he traveled all over the world and he has some great stories to tell. At the fifth of January there are going to arrive more volunteers :)

Tuesday was my second day here, and I had to teach immediately in the morning. I really hoped it would go right, I had never taught English before. But I think it went well for a first day. The kids are so cute and in the break they want to hug and climb on my. Sometimes they don't even want a break because they like the class so much. In the morning I had to teach very young kids and in the afternoon I had a class which was a little older. It's so much fun to teach but also very exhausting, but that doesn't really matter.

Wednesday the teaching went already better, but you can sense when the break will be and when it's time to go home. When you enter the class all the kids stand up and say: Good morning teacher Fem, (and something else) then I've to say good morning you can sit down, and they say thank you teacher Fem. With lunch Yan and me went to the local market (it's very very small) and I got some mango, it wasn't ripe yet so it was a bit sour. They gave me something with it and I thought it was sweet, so I put a lot on my mango. Everyone (especially the local people) was looking at me, the thing appeared to be very very very very salty. So I made some very weird noises and drank a lot of water. Everyone had to laugh, even Yan knew that it was very salty and he said to me he wanted to see my reaction. Thank you fellow.

Every night I'm attacted by loads of insects, I'm so glad I've a mosquito net. And everything was just fine until I discovered a huge spider next to my bag/bed. (I scared it away, I'm proud of myself haha).
